Digital Vehicle Health Check System Show 50% Increase In Added Dealer Repair Revenue

ODS Launches Digital Vehicle Health Check System.

Replacing a technicians usual pen (ball point, pencil or whatever they use to complete vehicle health checks) with the revolutionary Digital Data Pen can increase your hours sold per RO by at least 50% - well, that’s what our initial trials have shown across BMW, Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, Nissan and Suzuki.

The Digital Data Pen lets workshop staff quickly and easily complete point-by-point vehicle check forms for every vehicle they see. As there is no need to enter information on a PC or PDA (to workshop staff the system is essentially just pen and paper), trials have shown that workshop staff are much more likely to complete these forms, which are a crucial tool in generating additional repair sales.

The data collected through the Digital Data Pen is transferred in real time into ODS’s Digital Vehicle Health Check (DVHC) software, letting service and aftersales staff identify up-sell opportunities covering everything from worn tires to major mechanical issues. In addition any Declined or future work identified (tires needed in 2 months for example) is then stored in the Database, so when the work comes due the Service Advisor is automatically reminded to contact the customer.

This both potentially increases dealer revenue and builds closer ties with customers by keeping them aware of potential problems with their vehicle, and facilitating the means to ensure proper follow up.

ODS VP Andy Fannin-Church explained: “For the first time Management can assess, the Technicians ability to identify additional work, the Advisors ability to up sell identified work, and Dealerships ability to capture Declined and future work needed.”

“The real world figures on added repair sales increases that we’ve experienced with the Digital Data Pen and the DVHC have surprised even us. It has been extremely successful in the dealerships where it’s been adopted. The Digital Data Pen is natural and easy-to-use so technicians are happier using it and, crucially, more likely to complete the checks in the first place.

“These benefits come without the need to change the existing processes in the workshop and the Digital Data Pen can be producing results in a matter of days.”

Through the DVHC software, from any computer with an internet connection, dealers can instantly identify:

  • Value of additional work identified by technician
  • Value of the additional work sold by advisor - additional Gross Profit!
  • Declined or future work that is due for follow-up
  • Number of Health Checks performed, per technician, per store - per day, week, month
  • Value of additional work sold on each repair order by advisor - per day, week, month
